| Description: | two of the world's veryvery best go open to close. maurice fulton + marcellus pittman. room ii hosts a heaping of montreal heroes for a live jam 'til dawn, as we revive a long-dormant diy space that hasn't hosted a good party in seven long years + just rigged us up a new l-acoustics system.
a maverick by all metrics, maurice fulton's decades-old discography remains one of the most impressive feats in dance music history. from producing on that lil' track called gypsy woman, to a tireless flow of collaborations and aliases such as mu, syclops, and boof, to remixing everyone from rhye and the rapture to asha puthli, tame impala, peggy gou and mim suleiman... maurice fulton is the absolute epitome of 'if ya know, ya know'.
as a deejay, the man just flips floors completely upside down. it's impossible to summarize his range & ability with mere words. as anybody who joined us for his ferias debut last year can attest... he is probably the best deejay we've ever seen. like number one... atleast tied for number one...
to keep things phresh for his return, we've brought in one of the only deejays on planet earth he would ever play back-to-back with. the person he is tied for number one on our list with... marcellus pittman. straight up the best. he makes the best music, he plays the best music… simple as that.
marcellus, together with fellow detroit legends theo parrish & moodymann & rick wilhite, form house music's most mythical entity - the three chairs crew. long story short, a few decades of steel sharpening steel has created a legitimate master of the craft. he champions expansive & eclectic house music, bridging jazz, disco, funk, and spiritual textures with a very distinct knack for curveball records.
with each of them now fully familiar with the ferias flow, after both playing their own monumental parties with us last year, we're tossing them the keys to the floor. they hit the decks from doors open to doors closed, which should be like 10 hours or so. we're too lucky.
and there's more. there is a room ii. a space for the montreal heroes to take things a bit phreakier.
ramzi is back in town. live! wetdogg just moved here from detroit, and she's playing live too! anabasine and destiny are both at the foundation of everything we all love about montreal's scene right now, and they join the jam too.
'til dawn, we go again. |
