Description:

Karl Marx was born on May 5th, 1818 in Trier, Germany, where he received a classical education, excelling notably in his studies. Focused first on the subject of jurisprudence, his preoccupation with philosophy soon soured his taste for law. In 1841, after spending five years of his life in Berlin, “metropolis of intellectuals", he returned to Bonn, and began writing, in an attempt to contribute to his society and rehabilitate his own personal life. Instead he found the heavy hand of censorship knocking on his door. His intellectual faculties thus limited, he moved to Paris. In 1845 he was expelled from France due to his aggressive criticism of the foundations of their economic and social structure, and made Brussels his home. Unfortunately he was expelled from Belgium in 1847 following the publication his work “The Poverty of Philosophy”. Expelled again from his next home, Cologne, by Prussian rule, he then returned, upon invitation, to France, from where he was promptly expelled once again in 1849.

Frustrated and disillusioned beyond measure, Karl turned, as so many have, to the medium of music to express his beliefs, which were still considered revolutionary at the time. Teaming up with some righteous colleagues of his, Karl helped to create Level 4 Productions shortly thereafter. Long committed to the proletarian genres of hip hop and breakbeats, Karl Marx continues to involve himself in the seemingly endless struggle for the rights of the common worker.
