Name:The Last Forward, Three Year Aniversary - Vilify, Maysr & Dialect
City:Canada, Quebec, Montreal
Time:Thu May 26, 2011 @ 10:00pm till Fri May 27, 2011 @ 3:00am
Description:This week, we celebrate our three year anniversary by killing the night... literally! It seems ironic to combine an anniversary and a funeral, and it also seems ironic to stop a weekly dubstep-based night when the style has gotten to be one of the most important electronic musical genres in the city but in a way, it is what makes sense to us.

Three years ago, a dj/producer known as Intoccabile started a night called forward with the promise of offering a weekly rendez-vous for amateurs of dubstep, grime in combination with a whole myriad of other underground electronic music styles. I volunteered to help with promotion but ended up a resident dj and eventually organizing the whole night with Rhys Taylor and Gabee when Intoccabile decided to move on.

We had a mission to help the dubstep scene branch out to other music styles and create a united bass community. Looking back, three years ago at what the dubstep scene was before we started and what it is now, I think we can say that the mission is accomplished. It went from monthly events where 50 people was an amazing turn-out to huge venues packed with wild crowds dancing to some of the biggest names in the game.

I feel that forward is no longer an event that fills a gap. There is a great number of quality events to attend for the bass hungry fanatic. There is work that needs to be done outside of the clubs that will make push Montreal's sound forward. The time has come to move on to other projects for me.

Nevertheless, this IS a celebration and I wanna see all of Montreal on it's baddest behavior. It was hard but we've selected an all star line-up that truly represents what a classic forward night is all about! Mad fun and great diversity.

Maysr
[soundcloud.com]

Born and raised in N.D.G. and area rich in culture in the heart of Montreal Canada, Maysr bought his first set of Technics 1200s and a mixer in 1994. At the time, his passion for both hip hop and dancehall culture was in full bloom so his musical selection was only natural.

Fast forward to the present, Maysr has made his mark in Montreal as a top notch selector specializing i...n all forms of jamaican music but can still throw down a dirty hip hop set if need be and can easily adapt to a crowd in order to keep the dance floor packed. As far as reggae is concerned Maysr is known as a juggling selector but he has a heavy arsenal of dubplates that would make some clash selectors jaws drop.

When you see his name on a flyer, you know he's guaranteed to mash up the dance!

Dialect
[www.facebook.com]

Straight outta the northern lands of Deux-Montagnes...
Initially influenced by hip hop acts such as KRS One, Native Tongues, Gangstarr, Jeru tha damaja., He began to pursue a hip hop scratch dj status in 97. With the newer generation of "Shit-Hop" emerging from numerous hip hop labels, he became frustrated, fed up, and discontinued purchasing hip hop vinyls altogether.

Still producing hip hop instrumentals, and working with local MC's, Dj Dialect was still unsatisfied with the current "scene" until his first visit to the afterhours. An easy convert to the Break Beat sound, Dialect blends the precision skills of turntablism with an ear for the underground electronic music community. Dialect can be heard spinnin' "erectro, real skool breaks, dirty disco, whore-house, fist funk and more.
